Vagamundo Coffee & Waffles is dedicated to providing high quality coffee, gourmet waffles and exceptional service while giving back to the local community.
We believe it is important for any business to be conscious of the community around them. Vagamundo Coffee & Waffles is an extension of a non-profit organization that works to home street kids in the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and South Sudan. The majority of our staff are young adults who have graduated from the home, as well as volunteers personally involved in the ministry. Niños de la Luz is dedicated to reaching street kids for Christ by giving them hope, restoration and love through family, education and discipleship.
The Life Navigation School at Niños de la Luz helps youth plot a course for their life adventure so that they can step into the unknown with more assurance. Our staff focuses on discipling, guiding and equipping these kids for successful integration into independent living. The goal of La Baliza is to give former street kids from various institutions a chance to look to the future with excitement and not apprehension, and to view their future as an adventure just waiting to be lived out. But they’re going it alone and this weighs heavily on their minds. It’s essential that they first discover who God is: their father, their provider, their hope. By experiencing faith, the boys will learn that there is no need to fear as long as they look to God as their ultimate provider and friend.
Vagamundo Coffee & Waffles is an extension of this program. The graduated students have the opportunity to apply, put into practice of what they learned and gain professional work experience. They are renting an apartment, buying and making their own meals, budgeting, working and attending night school. Here at Vagamundo Coffee & Waffles, they are learning to live as adults in this big world!
